Farnham Independent Quiz League

Minutes of AGM 3rd September 2007

The AGM was held at the Wheatsheaf on the above date and attended by:

Ben Morrison & Trevor Warner (Lamb A)
Michael Spooner (Hare & Hounds)
Pat Brogan (Cricketer’s Badshot Lea)
Phil Harris & Jean Thomas (Royal Oak)
Chris Truin, Mick Hills & Stitch (Ball & Wicket A)
Russ Eaton (Chair) (Wheatsheaf)

The Treasurer’s Report was accepted. There was an operating deficit of £62.01 this year, attributed to the re-engraving of the Division 1 trophy and the claiming by the Results Collector of free subs for the Wheatsheaf.

The results of the published proposals were as follows:

1.             Organisation:                     Russ Eaton to continue.

2.             Quiz providers:                  Remain with Quizit, although they have raised their fees to £54.50 per team.

3.             Team Subscriptions:          Due to above, to increase to £61.00 for Season 2007-8.

4.             Match Dates:                      15/10/07 - 03/12/07 & 07/01/08 - 10/03/08 assuming 17-20 teams again.

5.             Rule Change:                     For defaulted matches, “winning” team to get average score in their division, “losing” team to get lowest score in division less 1.

6.             Rule Change:                     Final league positions to be decided by head-to-head results where there is a tie on both league points and points scored.

7.             New Team:                        The Golden Fleece at Elstead was welcomed to the league. Also the geographic limit for acceptance without AGM approval was set at 7 miles road distance from central Farnham (bottom of Castle St.).

Any Other Business

·             There was much concern expressed that a number of pubs may not be able, for various reasons, to enter teams this year. As usual. I shall endeavour to help any displaced team find an alternative venue, but to try and reduce the uncertainty involved I would ask all teams to let me know of their intention to play or otherwise as soon as possible.

·             Following approaches by Ros Thomas (thanks) to The Farnham Herald I now have a contact there and shall try to have them run an item inviting new teams, and also arrange to have the results published each week if possible.

·             A mailshot inviting new teams is to be sent to potential new establishments.
