The Treasurer’s Report was accepted.
There was a deficit of £35.58 this year, leaving a balance of £83.27 going into
the new season.
The loss was attributed to the additional cost of extra questions due to the postponement of round 12 matches due to snow, along with the late discovery that one set of subscriptions had not been paid into the bank.
* Additional *
The team in question has provided
details of the cheque, which was cashed somewhere, although I have no
record of having received it or banked it. Although I will attempt to pursue
the matter, due to the long delay in noticing the error I suspect this will
have to be written off.
The results of the published proposals
were as follows:
1.
Organisation: Russ
Eaton to continue.
2.
Quiz providers: Remain with Quizit, quiz fees rise to £57.00 per
team, attributed to increased p&p costs.
3.
Team Subscriptions: Rising to £63.50 for Season 2009-10, reflecting the rise in
question costs.
4.
Match Dates: 26/10/09
- 07/12/09 & 04/01/10 - 15/03/10, assuming 17-20 teams again.
·
Due to the threat of Post Office strike action, Russ to
arrange one or more neutral parties to be available to print and seal up e-mailed
questions in case of disruption, in return for suitable refund of costs.
·
The Farnham Herald is to be approached with regard to
running a short piece inviting entries for this season and also for the regular
publication of the results, as has happened in the past.
* Additional* The Herald was
contacted in good time to run a piece in the 2nd October edition,
but this did not appear. Will chase up for the next edition.
·
It was suggested that certain local organisations - such as
the Herald - might be approached for sponsorship of the league. Although the short
timescales make this unlikely this season I will try and look into it in good
time for next year.
·
The question was again raised about imbalance between choosing
to go first or second in the quiz. Although previous attempts to verify this proved
inconclusive it was decided to ask all teams reporting results to state which
team went first, and to publish this on the website alongside the results, so
that players can see how other teams fared if they suspect dodgy questions.
This is particularly requested of those who report in by text message, so I don’t
have to text you back to ask!
